Up
The Kermeta Liberators

By The Chosen of Sigmar

Prequel:

Well, I had decided to play as much Ranking Tournaments as possible when I was free so I entered for this as well. This time I considered and reconsidered my list many times before actually entering it. I wanted this to be a good tournament and was hoping for a place in the top 10. Together with 2 members of 'The Knights of Bayard' I arrived at 9h30 in Kermeta...

The tables:

The tables looked very much alike to the tournament of Conect'R. Big with not too much scenery allowing an open play...

The draw of battles:

Well, I had seen some of the possible opponents unpacking their armies and I didn't figure anyone out that I wouldn't like to play against except for one (and most ranking players know who I'm refering to). The draw ended me up with Tom playing Orge Kingdoms. Yeeha, my first time against the fat blokes...

Round 1:

Opponent: Tom Degendt (TSoA).
Army: Ogre Kingdoms.
About the opponent: Tom was still learning to know his army which gave me an advantage. However he is what I consider the typical Warhammer player. Nice to play against and with a good sense of humour. We did only three rounds (not intentionally) but we'll meet again and then we will finish the game for sure...
About the battle: Well, I had hoped that my shooting could do more harm (bad artillery dice ending up to high every time)  but nearly all Ogres succeeded in reaching my firing line. Luckily, the fully ranked regiments behind it could cope withe the overruns and send most opponents running... Result: solid victory!
Most valuable unit(s):
  • The fully ranked infantery units and the White Wolves...

Round 2:

Opponent: Karlijn.
Army: Skaven.
About the opponent: A girl... and a nice one on top of that! ;o) Well, I've played a few Skaven gamers but I prefer the nice company of a beautiful smile and pleasant voice on the other side of the table anytime above the view of beer bellies or goatees combined with a evil chuckle (sorry to Ian, Jan and Stijn for this)... Enough about the girls looks because she really adapted her playing style to mine. A pleasant adversary to say the least...
About the battle: In the first round I succeeded in destroying the Warp Lightning Canon with my great canon but for the rest the battle seemed to end in a tie end. It nearly was but with a nice last round Karlijn was able to achieve a minor victory... Stupid of me to let my wizard in the open and my White Wolves in the gunline of a ratling gun...
Most valuable unit(s):
  • Magic did some casualties...
  • Great Canon for destroying the Warp Lightning Canon in the first round...

Round 3:

Opponent: Kristof
Army: Chaos (Undivided and Slaanesh)
About the opponent: Fine opponent. He had an unusual Chaos composition which included fast units like furies and Daemonettes on steeds but on the other hand lacked the real hitting power of Knights.
About the battle: The battle swung here and forth and I was a little scared I would be outrun on my left flank but luclikly magic and my canon saved the day. The battle ended in a draw...
Most valuable unit(s):
  • Magic and shooting did their work... My infantry didn't see any battle...

Aftermath:

13th place on 38 contestants... Not bad but again not the top 10 I had hoped. With some minor adjustments my army is almost ready to go for that top 10 place. If only I knew what I'm missing... But it was a nice tournament and had fun with a few warhammerbuddies... To my direct opponents: hope to play you again some day...
