For the
third time this year, Karl
Schürzenjäger,
Arch Lector of Talabheim,
has taken the infamous Mace
of Helstrum
from its shrine on the great altar in the Temple of
Sigmar.
The first time he had not succeeded in keeping Leopoldsbürg from harm and
suffered great losses. The second time he had succesfully repelled the armies of
Dutch
Big’Fello,
an Ogre Tyrant and Kr’Izjan’z,
a Tzeentch Daemon. Both generals had been killed by Karl himself. Especially the
duel with Kr’Izjan’z was remarkable as Karl was able to survive several wounding
hits and then striking the foul being with a single blow of his mace. This
exceptional feature had earned him the nickname ‘the
Daemon
Slayer’.

This
time he did not have to defend the
Empire from
any threat but he was answering a call for help from a Bretonnian Harbour.
Saint
Michael
had been one of the most important harbours on the northern coasts of the Old
World until it’s passage to the sea began to silt up a couple of centuries ago.
Now only smaller ships could enter the harbour but still it was an important
trading point for Bretonnia. Now the harbour has been raided time and time again
by Dark Elves, Norse war galleys and Beastmen and Greenskins from the
surrounding forests. Several leaders of the forces of good have answered the
call for help by sending troops to get rid of the evil influences.
Karl
Franz, the
ruling emperor, has requested Karl to compose a force to come to the aid of
Saint Michael, as he himself is to busy with the search for the
Nemesis
Crown.
Karl has taken the task upon him and thus leads his
troops towards Bretonnia riding his War Altar.
His
troops were selected from Talabheim’s finest warriors backupped by some
reïnforcements from Nuln. His new personal standard was carried into battle by a
impressive looking regiment of Knights which were led by
Youri
Ausputzer, a
Warrior Priest who had been his personal bodyguard ever since Karl had been
appointed Arch Lector. Youri’s believe in the powers of Sigmar is so strong that
nummereous of foes have been killed by a single blow of him although wearing the
strongest armour known to Dwarf, Elf or Man. Furthermore his determination in
battle has been proven so great that even the men he leads do not know fear…

The unit
carries the Banner of the Daemon Slayer |

Another of his sub-ordinates,
Brother
Yannick,
led a regiment of swordsmen. He was a heavily built man that wielded his great
hammer like it was a hand weapon. His strength was legendary within the courts
of the Arch Lector. He once lifted the great War Altar of Karl on his own when
it had lost a wheel. Although being a calm person everybody knew he was not to
be messed with. In battle he was an inspirational leader, loved by his men and
feared by his enemies. His unit can always be found in the thick of the fighting
and many enemy generals have been killed by his hand.

Knowing
that without a proper magic he would suffer great losses even before the battle
had begun, Karl asked Stefan
Schlafmütze
wether he would join him again on thjs campaign. Stefan had joined Karl also on
his two last campaigns and had proven his value on several occasions. Having
become a good friend of the Arch Lector Stefan accepted.

To show he really supports Karl in this new campaign,
the Elector Count of Talabecland, offers that the Steam Tank, that constantly
guards the passage tunnel towards Talabheim, joins the forces of Karl. The Arch
Lector, realizing that this an enormeous advantage, gratefully accepts this
offer. On top of that the Engineer School of Nuln dispatches several pistoliers
and a great canon as extra fire support.

At
the head of these troops Karl sets off to Saint Michael. Along the way the
troops were joined by mercenaries and cutthroats of different strokes hoping of
making some profits of this campaign. Zealots and Flagellants that saw the War
Altar gathered around it hoping to find absolution dying for the Sigmarite
cause. And so the Riders of Sigmar made their way to Saint Michael. Their goal:
to relieve the Old World once and for all from all Evil...
