by Iano After reading the article in WD 309 about the magnificent rhinox riders, I wanted one of those to include in my new Ogre Kingdom army. My idea is to make an Ironskin Tribe. So I began with ordering three scraplauncher rhinox’s. After putting them together and filling up the gaps it was time to begin with the hardest part of the conversion: the riders. The first thing I did was cutting both legs off the torso and positioned them on the rhinox. Next I filed down the torso so that it fitted nice on the back of the rhinox and between its legs. I drilled a hole in both the back of the rhinox and the bottom of the torso and glued a piece of brass rod in the rhinox’s back. This way the torso was always at the same place. This helped me sculpting the legs and filling the gaps between the body and the legs with greenstuff. The bottom of the body, I held wet so that every time I fitted the body, the greenstuff wouldn’t stick to it. After letting the greenstuff to dry I glued the arms and heads in place. Apart from little adjustments like repositioning the arms and adding al little bit of extra detail, my first two rhinox riders, eg Standard Bearer and Thunderlord, were done. Now I’m busy converting my bellower. As you can see, I’ve kept the conversions relatively simple. It took me about two weeks to convert my first two models. Below you can find some photo’s of the unpainted versions of my models. And this is how they look painted: |
